Dr Asrar Rashid is a Paediatrician and Paediatric Intensivist. Graduating in 1992 from the University of Aberdeen, Asrar trained in the care of criticaly ill children’s in Sydney, Australia, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Denver Children’s Hospital, Colorado (USA). He has professional expertise gained over 28 years, 24 years with the NHS. As a children’s ICU doctor he has developed the expertise to saving the lives of critically ill children. On this basis he brings a vital skill set to Midland Doctors®. Accordingly, Dr Asrar has helped to formulate and guide the Child Health Program for Midland Doctors®. This program being implemented at the Midland Doctors Medical Institute, Muzaffarabad, also involving a community component. As a result, the MDMI team visit adjacent villages to help children with severe malnutrition. The Child Health program is already leading the region in aspects of healthcare delivery. He is also a member of the Paediatric Intensive Care society (UK), the Society of Critical Care Medicine (USA) and Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. He is also an ardent field hockey player and flags as left back/left half and is a Level 1 GB Hockey coach. He loves this team-based sport!

In 2009, for recognition of his charitable work, Asrar was invited to meet Her Royal Majesty the Queen at Buckingham Palace. Merging his knowledge of the clinical space with management training from the prestigious London Business School and on-the-ground application to Dubai's clinical arena, Dr Asrar is the author of a book titled “The Dubai Miracle: Developing the World’s Healthcare”. This highlights his passion for delivering healthcare globally. Currently working in the United Arab Emirates, Asrar also manages the Midland Doctors® UAE office. He is keen for experienced practitioners in child health to volunteer to work with him to develop key services for children.
