9th January: Covid-19 cases in Mirpur remain high with several new patients being diagnosed daily
After a small dip in the number of cases reported in the start of 2021, the figures are now rising and stretching the local health services. In partnership with the AJK government, Midland Doctors are preparing to move team and equipment from Muzaffarabad to Mirpur’s new City Teaching Hospital(NTCH). A detailed itinerary of the facility was take this morning through our first MD and NTCH Zoom meeting. Areas that require bolstering include Medical and Nursing staff, heating and geysers for warm water, equipment and Pharmacy updation.
An international group of Midland Doctors Internal Medicine consultants and Pulmonologists have been initiated in order to provide virtual medical support. A team has been tasked to upgrade the IT wifi system. Deficiency of a functional incinerator has been identified. Sharp bins(for needles), CPAP machines, sheets and other vital items will be required and provided by Midland Doctors.
A public health message in order to support COVID-19 patients is being formulated. Extra staff are being identified by the executive board of trustees, Dr. Syed Iftikhar Yousuf and Dr. Javed Ahmad, to fulfil these requirements.
