Day 5…

by | Sep 24, 2014 | Flood Relief, Projects

“There were areas surrounding Peshawar and Nowshehra where dozens of villages had completely vanished Thousands of families had lost everything and were spending days and nights without any shelter and any essential supplies. Families were surrounded by pools of dirty water, breeding pools for malaria, and other communicable diseases.

The MDAUK team will focus on reaching a local district hospital where they would start to focus on the relief effort. If team could bring some order to the chaos, there was hope that larger aid agencies would then come, however the larger agencies did never come to the areas where MDAUK were operational.

Rains & floods have caused devastation throughout Pakistan. Both North and South of the country have been effected.  We come from Shikarpur and have farm land in Sukkur and Jacobabad. To save the Sukkur and Guddu barrage, irrigation dept have deliberately damaged the canals so water can flow into smaller villages and towns. The low lying districts of Sindh are bearing the brunt of water spillage. There is mass migration of people from Jacobabad, Shikarpur and some parts of Sukkur to Karachi, Hyderabad, Nawabshah. There is no electricity, dacoits are active looting emptied houses, transporters are charging up to Rs400000/head to move people from worst effected areas. No sign of Government or any relief efforts by NGOs. Talking to my brother who has returned from the area after some rescue operation, it seems people need food, clothing, shelter and medicines’.”

How can I help Midland Doctors®?

We are always in need of donations to help run our charity hospital in Muzaffarabad whilst also participating in many other charitable projects across the world. Of course, not all contributions are monetary. Your time and effort to help fundraise, manage and drive our organisation forward will always be welcomed and appreciated!
