Day 19…

Midland Doctors Charsadda team

Midland Doctors organised the Medical stores this morning. The Midland Doctors group in Peshawar paid a visit to Pabbi medical camp where we stayed for about an hour and dropped off some needed medicines and then headed back to Peshawar. For tomorrow the plan is that we will entertain a medical camp in the areas we visited today. We will also visit Nowshehra quickly today and noticed that lot of people over require vaccination and some food stuff. We are going through planning and are trying to cover as much of the affected people as we can but priority is to make sure that we give the best services not just to visit them and leave them inventory.

Midland Doctors SWAT team

The team assembled in Lahore and met with the Chairman Dr Iftikhar who had travelled from Charsadda to Muzaffarbad to inspect the Midland Doctors Hospital project and then onto Lahore. We are coordinating with a DEC Charity to provide a medical partnership in SWAT as this team of doctors know the terrain and are accustomed to working in this environment.

Midland Doctors Sindh team

The team of doctors from Bradford is getting ready to leave the UK and will form our next phase in Sindh. We are basically chasing the devastation of the flood southwards. Rehabilitation is the key in the North and a number of surveillance of host villages is being undertaken

Other News…
2000 Clothes ( Shalwar Kameez ) stored at a store house in Peshawar at 9 am. Then, Areas visited includes small villages of Baata Gram Charsadda, the small villages includes Saddar Gari, Kaatozai, Sreekh and Kalaa Malozai. About 400-500 bags of food packs were distributed in the above mentioned affected places. Each food bag had 1 Kg of sugar, 2 Kg of rice, 1 kg of beans, ¼ kg of tea, 2 milk packs, and 1 litre oil.

The main problems faced by affected people is that access to them is not easy for NGO’s and other organisation. Families don’t have clean drinking water in most of the areas, some areas need food, some need shelter as their houses have vanished. Medical care is rehired at most camps located in different parts of the local region. Its hard to say exactly what is needed in which specific area because of the destruction being so wide, but what has so far noticed is that most of the people are worried about clean drinking water and shelter.
Rotary charity

Rotary charity is working with us to get a shipment of 2500 life straws to our teams on the ground. If we could protect the vulnerable form filthy water then that would be an excellent way of making a difference. Getting the straws from Vietnam has been difficult, however we have managed to find a way in through the masses of aid arriving.

Directions on how to use the straws have been translated into Urdu and Pushto and Midland Doctors staff will be offering training. We are now modifying our strategy for the north of the country. We will consolidate our positions and look at structural support of villages in which we have been active in. the scale of the disaster is tremendous and the challenges remain. Problems remain in Sindh so we have redirected our next international team south to that region. I am on my way now to Lahore whereby the Midland Doctors is assembling a team for SWAT. Then I go onto to Karachi to receive a team of doctors from Bradford. Midland Doctors is at your service, thank you for the funds without which this work would not have been possible.

How can I help Midland Doctors®?

We are always in need of donations to help run our charity hospital in Muzaffarabad whilst also participating in many other charitable projects across the world. Of course, not all contributions are monetary. Your time and effort to help fundraise, manage and drive our organisation forward will always be welcomed and appreciated!
