What is Midland Doctors Association UK Students

Working in association with the Midland Doctor Association UK, Midland Doctors UK Students was officially established in 2006 by a group of committed University of Nottingham medical students who all strove for one goal;

“To raise the maximum amount of money possible in order to rebuild the lives of the many affected by the floods by supporting the activities of the Midland Doctors Association UK.”

mdauks flood

Over the past 5 years, the money we have raised has been efficiently used to fund a £1.5 million project to build and equip a charity-based hospital in the earthquake-devastated region of Kashmir. Efforts are still ongoing to restore the area and provide adequate medical care to the affected population.

Fundraising events
Midland Doctors Association UK Students Nottingham run a series of fundraisers over the course of the year, which includes the ever-popular annual Comedy Night. Hosted by Nottingham’s top comedy club and with a guest performance by one of UK’s nationally acclaimed stand-up comedians, the 2010 Comedy Night came out to be a great success, raising approximately £800 in one night!

Fundraising is never all about the money; it’s also about getting to know other people and meeting different people from all walks of life, and building upon your interpersonal and communication skills that’s so core to our profession!

The importance of our society has never been greater!
According to the United Nations…
In July 2010, after the floods decimating Pakistan, the number of people suffering could exceed the combined total of the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, the 2005 Kashmir earthquake and the 2010 Haiti earthquake.
