Day 11…

by | Sep 24, 2014 | Flood Relief, Projects

Midland Doctors sourced life boxes containing 2000 family sized life straws from a facility in Vietnam. DHL were contacted to arrange a delivery to Karachi. The sourcing company generously subsidised the purchase and transportation of the life straws and Night and Day pharmacy of Derby (Shakeel & Partners) donated £5000 towards this purchase. Each of the family sized life straws would provide safe filtered water to a family for a year. The Midland Doctors health strategy team felt that this solution would be an effective way of managing the life threatening problem of contaminated water that is causing so many deaths.

Lang2Lang of Derby translated the direction sheet for the use of life straws into Urdu and other local dialects. Reports from the Midland Doctors engineer, Rizwan had identified the frail nature of the clothes that people were able to escape with and so Midland Doctors have sourced 15000 salwar chameezs for men and women in the flooded areas.

We released a further tranche of cash to purchase more family food packages.

How can I help Midland Doctors®?

We are always in need of donations to help run our charity hospital in Muzaffarabad whilst also participating in many other charitable projects across the world. Of course, not all contributions are monetary. Your time and effort to help fundraise, manage and drive our organisation forward will always be welcomed and appreciated!
